One of our most successful programs is facilitating the installation of our signature STEAM Lab Makerspace in schools all around the world. Bringing physical activities into the classroom is a valuable tool, helping to bridge the theoretical with reality. And our labs facilitate learning through activities that are both robust and efficient.
But the physical reality of funding and on-boarding an entire lab can be too big a lift for some educators. So we decided to offer a whole book of STEAM activities for anyone interested in getting their student’s hands dirty!
The content is built on a foundation of working in STEAM Education for close to a decade in Los Angeles. We’re proven nonprofit pioneers in the SoCal Makerspace community and this book contains our best activities, as judged by ruthless Los Angeles students from elementary through high school!
Among our contributors is a LAUSD curriculum developer, so there’s definitely a solid educator perspective in our unique mix too.
Included in the book are:
• STEM / STEAM Lesson Plans specific to Elementary, Middle & High School aged students.
• Illustrated step-by-step instructions
• Worksheets specific to the activity included
But don’t take our word for it: We’ve included a lesson plan directly from the book below for your consideration.

Parents often ask how they can encourage STEAM skill growth outside the classroom. We took this request to heart and compiled a brand new book containing a constellation of projects that kids can use to broaden their academic development.
But these are fun projects, too…of course, since they originated under the big top! None of these “lessons” feel like homework and that’s by design. We wanted to offer children fun, engaging and educational exercises and we believe we’ve delivered.
We’re lucky enough to work with professional educators every day and developed this book’s content in concert with many of them – so you can be sure this entire book is full of dense “educational nutrition” that only looks like fun and games!
No need to take our word for it, though – we’re so confident that we pulled the first lesson out of the book and posted it below. Have a look and we think you’ll agree this playbook is a must-have for any parents interested in expanding their child’s learning base in all five STEAM disciplines.
The book is printed and bound with the spiral binding we’ve had requests for when discussing our first playbook. So it’s ready to be left open and consulted during all of the exercises!

When many engineers discuss their early engineering influences, it often comes back to the Lego-style bricks they used as a child. Beyond building their knowledge base, working with them stoked their creativity and drove his own educational development.
That’s what we’re aiming to accomplish with this playbook. We believe that there’s a place for step-by-step learning but that’s not what our focus is here.
Instead, we’re looking to tap into that magic that those engineers found in those private moments when they learned problem solving through trial and error. Rather than offering an ordered list of steps for children to follow, we’ve developed a whole collection of projects that give prompts and encouragement.
These nudges allow kids to thoroughly engage in that trial and error process where we believe the real learning can take place.
Just like our Project Playbook above, this playbook is printed and bound with the spiral binding we’ve had requests for when discussing our first playbook. So it’s ready to be left open and consulted during all of the exercises! We’ve provided the first lesson below – we think you’ll find it engaging!
